Answer: ₹450. 10% of ₹500 = ₹50. ₹500 − ₹50 = ₹450.

Question 2 · Triangle area

A triangle has a base of 28 cm and a height of 6 cm. What is its area?

  1. A. 168 cm²
  2. B. 84 cm² ✓
  3. C. 34 cm²
  4. D. 56 cm²

Answer: 84 cm². Area = ½ × base × height = ½ × 28 × 6 = 84 cm².

Question 3 · Simple interest

Find the simple interest on ₹9,000 at 5% per year for 5 years.

  1. A. ₹2,200
  2. B. ₹225
  3. C. ₹3,150
  4. D. ₹2,250 ✓

Answer: ₹2,250. Simple interest = P × R × T ÷ 100 = 9000 × 5 × 5 ÷ 100 = ₹2,250.

Question 4 · Integers

What is −3 + 15 − (−2)?

  1. A. −20
  2. B. −16
  3. C. 14 ✓
  4. D. −10

Answer: 14. Subtracting a negative adds: −3 + 15 + 2 = 14.

Question 5 · Ratios

₹105 is shared between Ria and Sam in the ratio 3 : 4. How much does Sam get?

  1. A. ₹45
  2. B. ₹52.5
  3. C. ₹75
  4. D. ₹60 ✓

Answer: ₹60. 3 + 4 = 7 equal parts. One part = ₹105 ÷ 7 = ₹15. Sam gets 4 parts = ₹60.
