Find the simple interest on ₹1,000 at 10% per year for 5 years.

Answer: ₹500. Simple interest = P × R × T ÷ 100 = 1000 × 10 × 5 ÷ 100 = ₹500.

Question 2 · Triangle area

A triangle has a base of 8 cm and a height of 15 cm. What is its area?

  1. A. 52 cm²
  2. B. 23 cm²
  3. C. 120 cm²
  4. D. 60 cm² ✓

Answer: 60 cm². Area = ½ × base × height = ½ × 8 × 15 = 60 cm².

Question 3 · Circles

A circle has a radius of 14 cm. What is its area? (Use π = 22/7)

  1. A. 196 cm²
  2. B. 1232 cm²
  3. C. 44 cm²
  4. D. 616 cm² ✓

Answer: 616 cm². Area = π × r² = 22/7 × 14 × 14 = 616 cm².

Question 4 · Ratios

₹72 is shared between Ria and Sam in the ratio 5 : 7. How much does Sam get?

  1. A. ₹48
  2. B. ₹30
  3. C. ₹42 ✓
  4. D. ₹36

Answer: ₹42. 5 + 7 = 12 equal parts. One part = ₹72 ÷ 12 = ₹6. Sam gets 7 parts = ₹42.

Question 5 · Integers

What is −7 + 7 − (−5)?

  1. A. −5
  2. B. −9
  3. C. 9
  4. D. 5 ✓

Answer: 5. Subtracting a negative adds: −7 + 7 + 5 = 5.
