A triangle has a base of 24 cm and a height of 8 cm. What is its area?

  4. D. 96 cm² ✓

Answer: 96 cm². Area = ½ × base × height = ½ × 24 × 8 = 96 cm².

Question 3 · Ratios

₹72 is shared between Ria and Sam in the ratio 3 : 5. How much does Sam get?

  1. A. ₹45 ✓
  2. B. ₹27
  3. C. ₹54
  4. D. ₹36

Answer: ₹45. 3 + 5 = 8 equal parts. One part = ₹72 ÷ 8 = ₹9. Sam gets 5 parts = ₹45.

A jacket costs ₹700. After a 15% discount, what do you pay?

  1. A. ₹595 ✓
  2. B. ₹645

  4. D. ₹685

Answer: ₹595. 15% of ₹700 = ₹105. ₹700 − ₹105 = ₹595.

Question 5 · Averages

What is the average of 36, 58, 53, 45 and 38?

  1. A. 48
  2. B. 58
  3. C. 44
  4. D. 46 ✓

Answer: 46. Add the numbers: 36 + 58 + 53 + 45 + 38 = 230. Divide by 5: 230 ÷ 5 = 46.
