Answer: ₹560. 30% of ₹800 = ₹240. ₹800 − ₹240 = ₹560.

Question 2 · Linear equations

Solve for x: 9x + 11 = 83

  1. A. 10

  3. C. 8 ✓
  4. D. 7

Answer: 8. Subtract 11 from both sides: 9x = 72. Divide by 9: x = 8.

Question 3 · Simple interest

Find the simple interest on ₹6,000 at 5% per year for 5 years.

  1. A. ₹15,000
  2. B. ₹7,500
  3. C. ₹1,500 ✓
  4. D. ₹1,450

Answer: ₹1,500. Simple interest = P × R × T ÷ 100 = 6000 × 5 × 5 ÷ 100 = ₹1,500.

Question 4 · Averages

What is the average of 98, 100, 99, 90 and 63?

  1. A. 89
  2. B. 90 ✓
  3. C. 113
  4. D. 88

Answer: 90. Add the numbers: 98 + 100 + 99 + 90 + 63 = 450. Divide by 5: 450 ÷ 5 = 90.

Question 5 · Ratios

₹54 is shared between Ria and Sam in the ratio 1 : 5. How much does Sam get?

  1. A. ₹36
  2. B. ₹45 ✓
  3. C. ₹9
  4. D. ₹54

Answer: ₹45. 1 + 5 = 6 equal parts. One part = ₹54 ÷ 6 = ₹9. Sam gets 5 parts = ₹45.
