Answer: 625. When you multiply powers of the same base, add the exponents: 5^4 = 625.

Question 2 · Ratios

₹108 is shared between Ria and Sam in the ratio 4 : 5. How much does Sam get?

  1. A. ₹60 ✓
  2. B. ₹48
  3. C. ₹72
  4. D. ₹54

Answer: ₹60. 4 + 5 = 9 equal parts. One part = ₹108 ÷ 9 = ₹12. Sam gets 5 parts = ₹60.

Question 3 · Linear equations

Solve for x: 6x + 5 = 65

  1. A. 12
  2. B. 11
  3. C. 9
  4. D. 10 ✓

Answer: 10. Subtract 5 from both sides: 6x = 60. Divide by 6: x = 10.

Question 4 · Simple interest

Find the simple interest on ₹5,000 at 4% per year for 2 years.

  1. A. ₹400 ✓
  2. B. ₹360
  3. C. ₹4,000
  4. D. ₹40

Answer: ₹400. Simple interest = P × R × T ÷ 100 = 5000 × 4 × 2 ÷ 100 = ₹400.

Question 5 · Discounts

A jacket costs ₹1,800. After a 20% discount, what do you pay?

  1. A. ₹1,490
  2. B. ₹1,440 ✓
  3. C. ₹2,160
  4. D. ₹1,780

Answer: ₹1,440. 20% of ₹1,800 = ₹360. ₹1,800 − ₹360 = ₹1,440.
